about

“Sometimes it can be hard enough to see myself as a trans person without having to navigate the opinions of others,” explains DeSilva. “Even well-intentioned comments about ‘bravery' and other (perhaps unintentional) tokenizing can feel harmful. Sometimes I think gender dysphoria, feeling as though my body/physical presentation and gender identity are at odds, is actually more of a ‘you' problem than a ‘me' problem. I wasn’t born in the wrong body, I was born in the wrong world.” ~ Jessye

lyrics

I don't wanna be your social justice project
I've got enough work to do myself
I don't wanna be your pretty penance object
So go put that shit on someone else

They say beauty's in the eye of the beholder
But this world don't have a word for folks like me
Your stare is getting long and my legs are getting colder
It's such a fucking drag to be perceived

Chorus:
Dysphoria
Can't get you off my mind
Tell me how do I get rid of ya
'Cuz you're making me a monster
I don't wanna be a warrior
That's not what I'm inclined to
But when I'm with Dysphoria
The world just sees a monster

I don't wanna fill up your diversity quota
I'm not interested much in being brave
I've got enough good intentions here to tide me over
So let's leave this road to hell unpaved

They say beauty's in the eye of the beholder
But this world don't have a word for folks like me
Your stare is getting long and my legs are getting colder
It's such a fucking drag to be perceived

(Chorus)

I'm not a woman
I'm not a man
I'm just somebody you don't want to understand
I'm not your devil
I am not your friend
I'm just something that you'll never ever comprehend

(Chorus)
